Herculane Climbing Open - 10th edition

Because this year is a special one we tried to make some changes in the event, the biggest one being that we would like to have besides the rock contest, also a bouldering competition in the center of Herculane. This would involve the local community of Herculane in our sport and in time we hope to see some a generation of climbers from Herculane. We have the support of Herculanes town hall but in the moment we lack funds for the competition structure. This is why , if we do not get funding in time we will put an extra day of rock-climbing instead of the bouldering contest. Competition categories will be as in the last three years Masters and Open for the male competitiors and Open for the ladies.

Last, but not least we'd like to announce you that this years HCO will be held in the "Cariera" area. This area is a traditional one for Herculane and we are in the process of rebolting all the old and forgotten routes and also add some new ones, and extend short ones to the standards of 2011. Our goal is to make this "old" area new and shining again , and to give it it's traffic of climbers like back in the day when it was considered Herculane's main sport-climbing area. If you visit Herculane before the competition we would like to ask you not to climb in the "Cariera" area so that everybody can see and enjoy our work at the same time !

FRIDAY 29 april 2011 - second day of rockclimbing 10:00 - 19:00
SATURDAY 30 april - third day of rockclimbing 10:00 - 15:00
SATURDAY 30 april/SUNDAY 1 may - PARTY :)
